The course is one of the better layouts in the area and is perfect for those golfers who like to walk and wish to mix a little exercise with their round. The most prevalent features on the golf course are the challenging par 3's over water and the peninsula that hosts both the par-5 9th green and the par-4 18th green. Even though most golfers will have a short iron approach into these two greens, accuracy and distance control are at a premium.

Nine holes opened on the Kelby Hughes designed course on Feb 1, 2004 and the back nine opened in October '04. The front nine, which features bentgrass greens and Tif 419 Bermuda with rye over-seed fairways, winds seamlessly through the bluffs of north Mesquite. A par-5, measuring 500 yards, opens the nine with bluffs coming into play from the opening tee shot. Overall, Falcon Ridge Golf Course will be played for its unique challenges, and for its irresistible beauty.

The large fairways and Bermuda greens make the course player friendly and a refreshing change of pace. The challenge starts with the first hole, a long par five with a narrow sloping fairway that requires length and accuracy (so you might want to hit a practice bucket before you play). Five of the next six holes have water, and the eighth hole presents a beautiful elevated tee box dropping 100 feet to the green below.

And the best advice is vintage Arnie: hitch up your trousers or skirt and go for it. The Oasis has several elevated tee boxes with dramatic shots to slot canyon fairways that meander through the foothills surrounding northern Mesquite. The narrow fairways are accented with many bunkers, water hazards, and undulations that leave the golfer with few level lies. But nothing looks or feels artificial here as Palmer used the natural landscape to provide all the drama.

The course blends with the natural landscape, winding among sand dunes and stands of red rock. In addition to the adjacent dunes and rock outcroppings, the course provides golfers with stunning views of the peaks of the Pine Valley Mountains. Sand Hollow's 26,000 square-foot, full service clubhouse overlooks the Championship course and the 9-hole Links course. The Matt Dye, the nephew of famed architect Pete Dye, designed golf course is quite spectacular from a design point and offers awe-inspiring views of Snow Canyon from many of the holes. St. George, Utah is becoming a major golf destination with high-profile golf designers now putting their names on new golf courses in the area.

Set amidst a desert landscape of sagebrush and tumbleweeds, the course offers an island of palm trees and lush green fairways with a number of daunting water hazards. The Palms provides golfers with two contrasting nines: the front nine has fairly flat wide fairways with small lakes providing a precision challenge. The back nine takes full advantage of dramatic elevation changes, offering incredible vistas, but the serendipity must be occasionally interrupted by forced carries over unforgiving canyons. Most memorable is the 536-yard 15th hole, a par-five that presents a 114-foot drop to the fairway below.
